A number of circumstances have come together to invite extensive discernment on the part of the Peace Preschool Board about next steps for our school. While the school remains in a good financial position following the challenges of the past year and a half, enrollment has remained low. We also recently received notice of the upcoming resignation of our long-tenured and beloved director, Mary Mayo. Mary has served the school so well…and has been with Peace since 2001. In light of the combination of staffing transitions, low enrollment, and the current spike in COVID cases, the board believes that the school is best served by suspending operations for further discernment.
For those who have shepherded Peace Preschool to this point, for each life the school has touched, and for those who are currently discerning next steps, we invite your prayers. And we thank Mary with our whole hearts for her faithful, loving service of this ministry. And we wish her well in the next chapter that is opening for her and her family.
This new wave of heightened precautions is exhausting and unsettling. We are so sorry we are here again. We hope this surge will dissipate quickly, and that we can begin moving back in a more hopeful direction soon. Now, we hold one another in prayer…and if there is anything else we may be able to do to support you, please let us know.
