There is no doubt that we are all likely facing feelings of stress or anxiety during the current pandemic. Maybe you are isolated from your loved ones, maybe the reality of financial hardship is starting to dawn, or maybe you are feeling overwhelmed trying to keep up with work and your children’s school from home…Life may not be quite what we were expecting at this moment in time, but the Lord is always present no matter what season of life we are in, as He tells us in Isaiah 41:10, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
During stressful and anxious times, it is important to be mindful of self-care for our mind, body, and spirit. This may look like daily devotionals, prayer time, going for walks, or having quiet time throughout the day. Another resource that you might find beneficial is through the Greater Houston Healing Collaborative. Although it developed in Houston to serve their community following the disaster of Hurricane Harvey, their group classes are now available to anyone across the world online. They host several Mind-Body Skills Groups for people of all ages and professions including healthcare workers, educators, children, families, etc. by offering skills on how to reduce stress and anxiety, so that we might manage and improve our own health. The skills taught in the groups were developed from The Institute for Spirituality and Health (ISH) and Center for Mind-Body Medicine, meaning that the information provided is based on proven methods to address stress and anxiety during traumatic experiences.
