On November 20th after church, there will be a read out loud circle! Everyone who wishes to participate should bring a written item to read out loud in front of others. It can be from a book, a poem, your own journal, or any other interesting written source, up to two pages or 5 minutes. If the reading sparks conversation, then the group can spend some time on it. If not, we move on down the circle.

The Bible and Climate Change: We discuss parts one and two of the two-part series from The Salt Project podcast Strange New World, “The Bible and Climate Change” — rethinking scripture from the ground up in the face of the greatest global challenge in human history. In part one, we start with Genesis, and uncover how “climate change” — though it’s never mentioned in the Bible — is on virtually every page. In episode two, we explore what Jesus has to do with climate change, zeroing in on his last public teaching, the final words he wants ringing in our ears. One of the traditional Lenten disciplines is reading scripture. For our Community Connections Bible Studies during Lent, we will turn our attention to some of the lesser-read, small books of the New Testament. Some of these are NOT included in the 3-year lectionary cycle, and some only appear for a month or so every three years. Perhaps there is a reason why these books get less attention, so let’s find out together!
These studies are discussion based and you can join them at any time and fully participate. So grab your favorite beverage and join us at 1:00 PM on Zoom or Facebook.
Each session will begin with readings of each passage to study followed by a time to reflect. Then we will explore the passages, think about how each passage relates to our lives, and consider how we can apply these insights to our lives in the coming days or weeks.
